OA Literature

Literature is one of the nine tools of OA. Many find that reading our literature facilitates their recovery journeys.

  • We discover we are not alone. Others have traveled the journey and recovered.
  • We find inspiration and healing in the words of others who have come before us.
  • We learn about the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous.
  • We discover the history of OA and its early development.
  • We understand we are suffering from a disease with physical, emotional, and spiritual consequences.

We invite you to explore for yourself OA’s literature in the World Service OA Bookstore.

Lifeline Magazine

Lifeline, OA’s international magazine, is designed to be a “meeting-on-the-go”! Many find subscribing to and reading Lifeline an indispensable part of their recovery program.

Literature is one of the nine OA tools of recovery, ever-reminding us that we are not alone and that recovery is possible. You can download a free sample copy of Lifeline from the OA World Service Website.

Lifeline has a new website of its own as well!

OA WSO Podcasts and Media

OA Speaker Podcasts are a great resource to strengthen fellowship, hope, and recovery in the OA program. For newcomers, OA Podcasts can be a great way to “get a feel” for the fellowship. This may help if you are unsure if this program is for you. Or, if you are not yet comfortable attending a formal meeting. For members, podcasts can also be a great way to stay connected to the OA Fellowship while on-the-go, out of town, or as a part of your recovery routine.

OA World Service Business Conference:

The OA World Service Business Conference serves as the collective conscience of the Fellowship of Overeaters Anonymous. The week long business conference is held every year, usually in April or May. Delegates representing OA service bodies gather to:

  • elect trustees
  • amend bylaws
  • adopt new business policies
  • provide information on issues that affect OA

According to oa.org:

“Each OA member, group and service body has a stake in Overeaters Anonymous. Conference is the one opportunity we have as “shareholders” to come together and question, chart and steer the course of Overeaters Anonymous. It is also our obligation to report back to our service bodies and groups on the current state of OA and its direction for the future.”

World Service Convention:

Every three years, a World Service Convention is held in order to “promote recovery, fun and fellowship” in OA. Past events include: workshops, marathons, and speaker sessions from OA members from other countries.

For more information, please visit the World Service Events page at oa.org.
