Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women from all walks of life who meet in order to help solve a common problem - compulsive overeating, which includes obesity, anorexia and bulimia. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively.
Worldwide meetings and other tools provide a fellowship of experience, strength and hope. Members respect one another’s anonymity. OA charges no dues or fees. It is self-supporting through member contributions.
OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance. It is not about obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
It is not a religious organization. It does not promote any particular diet. It does not hold any opinion on outside issues. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively.
Overeaters Anonymous members differ in many ways. We are united, though, by our common disease.; compulsive eating. We are united, also, by the solution we have found in the Overeaters Anonymous program. We practice unity with diversity.
We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.
In program, we find love and understanding “beyond our wildest dreams.”
OA Promise
I put my hand in yours, and together we can do
what we could never do alone.
No longer is there a sense of hopelessness,
no longer must we each depend
upon our own unsteady willpower.
We are all together now,
reaching out our hands for power and
strength greater than ours, and as we join hands,
we find love and understanding
beyond our wildest dreams.

Overeaters Anonymous offers a program of recovery from compulsive eating using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions of OA.
Meetings are gatherings of two or more compulsive eaters who come together to share their personal experiences and the strength and hope OA has given them. They are usually held once a week and run from an hour to an hour and a half. Though there are many types of meetings, fellowship with other compulsive eaters is the basis of them all.
There are many resources to aid you on your journey to recovery from compulsive eating. Remember – with OA you are “not alone anymore”!
